I'm right there with you (minus one kid) but now I'm homeschooling one, and of course not getting paid, so I wonder how I would figure out my days off I earned? The Special Redshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01670152681511234623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6549791772278227873.post-23426678528081920412012-01-23T13:10:43.251-06:002012-01-23T13:10:43.251-06:00Vernon had an interesting point, but in my paying ...Vernon had an interesting point, but in my paying job... if you had planned vacation and you couln't take it because of work (which I think is your case), then it did roll over... that was in AZ though.Leannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13922434257985888646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6549791772278227873.post-44286546121497088792012-01-23T07:23:14.403-06:002012-01-23T07:23:14.403-06:00An argument could be made that since I was married...An argument could be made that since I was married in California and/or Claire was conceived in California that I signed my "contract" in California and therefore get to keep my rolled over vacation as a remote employee. I suppose it would depend on how the transfer to Utah and then Texas occurred. But you're right, M's vacation is capped at 10 days in fact. There are other problems with my claims too. I didn't factor in any holidays like Christmas, the 4th of July, etc. All of which I work. Also, my example has me using sick time willy-nilly after my kids are in school as vacation and not just when I'm actually sick, which is not the type of sick leave M has. But for the sake of argument even if not legality, I justify this all by saying that if you aren't ALLOWED to take your time off, then it rolls over in my book. And if you worked through being sick, then you don't need to feel any guilt for getting a little break later as compensation.Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15603677261111811688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6549791772278227873.post-44393915133476138942012-01-22T23:07:36.794-06:002012-01-22T23:07:36.794-06:00Since you don't work in California, your vacat...Since you don't work in California, your vacation days roll over year to year, so you have been hoarding (and thus losing) your vacation days. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you really only have, like 20 days. Talk to HR, but really, you should have gotten all of this in writing before you started this job. :)Vernon Maueryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14003528341552643519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6549791772278227873.post-11673043784912447212012-01-22T20:34:06.938-06:002012-01-22T20:34:06.938-06:00My dream is to be a stay at home mom for the very ...My dream is to be a stay at home mom for the very reasons you describe, and I use 100% of my PTO to be able to be a stay-at-home mom (your job) and teach my son's preschool group. Therefore, I guess you could use the PTO time you've accrued to do my job (work in an office). I'd switch jobs in a heartbeat, lol. You are very blessed, and I'm working on not coveting all of the stay at home moms, but it is hard ;)Isabellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01894402176053852316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6549791772278227873.post-36304650411593655692012-01-22T20:16:23.872-06:002012-01-22T20:16:23.872-06:00I'm right there with you! I could do the the projects I wanted, be the mom I wanted, have fantastic long Friday lunches with my husband, etc. Why get a job and take up the short, precious time you have with your family in the afternoons and evenings with mundane tasks like laundry and shopping.Stephanie Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14665381306583698029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6549791772278227873.post-62480915293997471442012-01-22T19:08:41.098-06:002012-01-22T19:08:41.098-06:00Ha, this was so funny to me.Ha, this was so funny to me.Janssenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13178196211079230972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6549791772278227873.post-13658931555867451632012-01-22T19:01:18.719-06:002012-01-22T19:01:18.719-06:00Hey, if you truly WANT to get a job, go for it.
