The kids are going through a phase where they're enamored with cheesy jokes. Knock knock jokes, "why did the [blank] cross the road" jokes, etc. (Thanks a lot "Good Laughternoon" on Sid the Science Kid.)
Except sometimes they try to make up their own and they're not very good at it. Claire does okay occasionally, but Scott... [shaking head]
Here is what the jokes are like:
Why did the picture frame cross the road?
Why?
Because it was chasing the milk!
Huh?
M's response to one of these "gems" the other day was:

My nephew, when he was about 4, made up this one:
Knock Knock!
Who's there?
Pig!
Pig who?
PIG MONSTER!
And then he squealed with laughter and delight. The Eric and I tell this joke to each other all the time now. It was actually a pretty funny joke when we were camping on a tiny island in New Zealand and our tent got invaded by a couple of marauding pigs.
I enjoy watching kids' reactions to their own made-up jokes. Forced laughter, expectant looks - good stuff.

my mom recently threw out my collection of 10 "101 jokes"...i was sad. but luckily most of them are memorized.
Strong Bad emails are still around? That's awesome. Very apropos use of EH! STEVE!. This blog entry deserves a trophy.
